This position is based in Seoul, Korea.

The area: Mobile

Our open-source Android operating system has become the world's most popular mobile ecosystem, powering hundreds of devices from smartphones to tablets. Whether adding to the core Android experience, forging new markets for digital content, creating immersive and portable versions of our products or managing relationships with a global community of developers, the Mobile team is giving you Google on the go.

The role: Developer Advocate

We're self-proclaimed nerds, and our Developer Relations organization helps keep us connected to the communities that love technology as much as we do. Developer Advocates are focused on supporting the 3rd party developers who are building applications and businesses on Google's platforms. You are passionate evangelists for Google technologies as well as vocal champions for developer interests within Google. This is a position for engineers who love connecting with developers and speaking publicly about cutting-edge technologies on conference panels, at user groups, on blogs and with the press. Chrome, Android, App Engine, HTML5 as well as our core Google Apps and Ads APIs are just some of the platforms you promote and support.

Responsibilities:

  • Create momentum and drive the success of the mobile ecosystem with your interactions with 3rd party developers building applications and businesses on them.
  • Participate in technical and design discussions with technical executives at strategic partners to speed adoption and ensure best practices during implementation.
  • Evangelize Android development tools and APIs in person and online by presenting at conferences, blogging, writing technical tutorials, and other similar activities.
  • Advocate for developers internally, and influence Android developer product strategy by working with Product Management, Engineering, PR, Marketing, Business Development, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Advocate the adoption of Android SDK for mobile application development to strategic partners and the broader developer community.

Minimum qualifications:

  • BA/BS in Computer Science (In lieu of degree, 4 years relevant work experience).
  • 4 years of relevant work experience, including experience working directly with large partners, presenting to large technical audiences and blogging and writing technical articles.
  • Stong programming abilities in one or more of the following languages: Java, PHP, Python, Ruby, .NET, JavaScript.

Preferred qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in computer science or similar technical field.
  • 6 years relevant work experience, including experience blogging and writing technical articles, ideally with an existing follower base, as well as experience working directly with press and bloggers.
  • Considerable success as a software developer, architect, technology evangelist, CTO, or consultant working with web or mobile technologies.
  • Strong command of web application or mobile application development landscapes.
